What's with the pictures above?

The first painting from Grindlewald, Switzerland, a place I have been, is simply of the most breathtakingly beautiful vista I've ever seen.

The painting of the Geographer is by one of my favorite artists--the Dutch master Ver Meer. I think he had the skill of Rembrandt in rendering facial expressions, psychology and mood, and was a master of light and composition as well. It's unfortunate that his existing works amount to only a handful.

Beauty and truth go hand in hand, and great thinkers are also great artists, in my opinion.
